Privacy and Usage Policy for OncoChat
The following discloses our usage policy and information gathering and dissemination practices.

Privacy
OncoChat respects the privacy of its online visitors.

The OncoChat website may be viewed without disclosing personal information. Since we do not collect any personal information on this website, we do not share any personal information with any third parties nor do we use any personal information for any purposes.

However, this policy does not apply to our IRC channel (chat room). Any information that is disclosed in our chat room becomes public information. We cannot control what others do with information you have shared in this manner. See Chat Room Usage.

Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your computer typically for "remembering" web page settings such as login details or preferred color schemes, to enhance or speed up your browsing. We don't serve these kinds of cookies. The only cookies on our site are virtual, right out of the oven. You can request any kind you want.

Guest Book Advertisers
We do not display ads on our site and receive no funding from advertisers.  However, our Guest Book pages have advertisements that also may contain cookies. Cookies received with these ads are collected by the company that provides this service, and we do not have access to this information.

IRC Channel (Chat Room) Usage

  • This website makes a chat room available to its users.  Login to the OncoChat IRC Network and use of any network channel releases OncoChat and its administration from any and all liabilities concerning its content. Oncochat and its administration can not and will not be responsible for any COUNSEL OR ADVICE given in the chat room. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless OncoChat and its administration with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

  • We reserve the right to deny service to any person, at any time, with or without prior notice, for any reason we deem fit. This includes kicking and banning from the chat room, and deletion of entries in the guest book.

  • Please remember that any information that is disclosed in chat rooms becomes public information. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.

  • If you wish to register your chat nickname for your private use, you must provide your email address. This is necessary to email your password if you forget it. This information is not shared with any third parties.

  • Do not lurk for purposes of observation or otherwise attempt to interview group members for research or other purposes. Our channel operators (moderators) will ask (or force) you to leave.

  • If you lurk (idle, with no chat) for more than 20 minutes, you will be disconnected (kicked). This is usually not a permanent action - just return when you can chat.

  • The posting or transmission of any unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or any other forms of solicitation in the chat room is prohibited.

  • The posting or transmission of any of any information, data, text, files, links, software, chat, communication or other material that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racially derogatory or otherwise objectionable is prohibited.

  • OncoChat is not a forum for religious discussion. Please respect the beliefs or non-beliefs of others. Overt religious proselytizing and/or preaching is prohibited.

  • Any and all concerns and questions regarding usage and policy must be directed to channel operators in private chat. There will be no excessive discussion or criticism of operator actions or operation of the channel allowed in the channel.  Open discussions regarding these issues can be confusing and disruptive to others.

Information may be Automatically Logged
Chat sessions are generally not logged. However, there are occasions where a channel operator or a service administrator will record and retain the contents of a chat session. This is necessary during instances or abuse or harassment.
