REMEMBER?

I remember the color of happiness
And the smell of unbounded joy.
I remember the feeling of being the one
To open the birthday toy.

I remember the sound of Mother's round laugh
As I toppled over with glee . . .
And the softness of cheek when she cuddled her "calf",
And of course, the calf was me!

I remember the day she lost her smile
And got sick with the baddest of bugs.
But if I think real hard I can still hear her laugh
And remember her biggest of hugs!

And remember once more, the color of happiness
